Job summary/Role description

The Project relates to the implementation of a new Urea and UAN (Urea Ammonium Nitrate solution) plant in Gemlik, 125 km south of Istanbul, Turkey.

The plant will have the capacity of 1,640 MTPD of Granular Urea and 500 MTPD of UAN and will run on the market leading urea technology of Stamicarbon, a fully owned subsidiary of the Maire Tecnimont Group. The Scope of Work concerns the execution of engineering, supply of all equipment and materials and construction and erection works.

Mechanical Supervisor, MES is responsible for the coordination of Mechanical Construction and directs Subcontractor mechanical activities, ensuring that Construction works are performed according to the erection schedules and Project documents, within the assigned cost budget, and according to Quality & Safety procedures, as well as according to the terms and conditions of the subcontract.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Management of Mechanical Subcontractor(s) for static and package equipment;

  • On-site tank assembly preparation and  management;

  • Supervision of Cooling  Tower Erection and HVAC installation; 

  • Ensure that their performances are carefully monitored in terms of schedule, quality and cost, and coordinate all necessary recovery actions whenever detect deviation from schedule or specifications under the guidance of Mechanical Superintendent;

  • Checks that the construction schedule is kept to, and to promotes action to recover any delay;

  • Checks Subcontractors’ work progress status sheets and signs the same for approval;

  • Prepares the non-conformity register for each Subcontractor and co-ordinate nonconformity resolution;

  • Detects any design errors, and where possible rectifies the same or request the Site Engineer to make the necessary changes;

  • Manages vendor specialists.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in construction/modernisation of industrial sector/ EPC projects large Fertilizer plants;

  • Experience in static equipment erection;

  • Experience in site assembly Tanks and API650; 

  • HVAC installation experience is mandatory;

  • Cooling Tower Erection experience is mandatory;

  • At least 3 years of experience in the specific discipline;

  • Experience working on Contractor side.

  • Similar role covered in last three projects of comparable size;

Skills and Abilities

  • Native Turkish speaker;

  • Fluent English;

  • Excellent IT and analytical skills;

  • Excellent communications, team-oriented and interpersonal skills;

  • Attention to details;

  • Self-motivation and direction, with a strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
