Job summary/Role description

The project related to Commissioning services for a new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant, including the requisite Utilities and Interconnections. The new facility, located at an existing Borealis production site in Kallo, Belgium, will have a targeted production capacity of 750,000 metric tonnes per year, making it one of the largest and most efficient in the world.

 

OSBL Commissioning Supervisor, COS manages commissioning activities of in compliance with the quality requirements, health/environmental/safety regulations, and following the stated procedures.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Keep under control the water/steam and process fluid chemistry both during the start up and during plant stable operation; including cooling water,
  • Give instruction to Operation Shift supervisor on how to operate to adjust water/steam parameters in order to comply with the limits given by the Vendors (Boiler, steam turbine, condenser, water plant, etc), and by Plant Technology and Licensor
  • Shall be able to operate the online process analyzers and verify the availability of the reagent or carrier gas required for their operation;
  • Operate the dosing system in order to keep the water/steam parameters in the limit given by the Vendors;
  • Prepare the relevant solution of chemicals according to Vendors specification;
  • Perform (as minimum) the following analytical analysis on filed


  • Take part in the development of detailed Utilities commissioning procedures.
  • Field check the Discipline Acceptance Certificate (DAC) and prepare relevant Commissioning punch lists.
  • Assure that all activities in the Utilities Area (Nitrogen Generation, Air Dryers, Tank Farms, Water Treatment) are duly performed in accordance with the stated procedures, in conformity with the safety rules.
  • Organize and manage the Sub-Contractor works following the working and safety procedures;
  • Support the Vendor specialists in the execution of the job and coordinate their actions with the Commissioning supervisors;
  • Keep records of all activities in the logbook;
  • Produce the certificates, duly signed by the involved parties, and handover to certification engineer (QA/QC).

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent.

Experience

·        Relevant experience in Commissioning Petrochemical sector/EPC projects large PDH plants; Oil Flushing, Pump, compressor centrifugal / reciprocating.

·        Similar role covered at least in last three projects of comparable size;

·        Experience in Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant and Polypropylene (PP) is mandatory;

·        At least 3 years of experience in the specific discipline;

·        Experience working on Contractor side.

·        Attention to details;

·        Self-motivation and direction, with a strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
