Job summary/Role description

The Steel Structure Engineer oversee activities within the engineering team, specifically focusing on the building and civil components, both in the Home Office and on-site.

 

The Steel Structure Engineer conducts engineering activities with a primary focus on delivering results that meet high standards of quality, compliance, and timeliness. In the course of their duties, they may be assigned to work with other companies and can also be stationed on-site.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To guarantee the quality of the deliverables generated and their compliance with the contractual requirements of the project contracts satisfying the assigned budget and time schedule.

  • To assist the Responsible in guaranteeing the application and the continuous updating of the department and company standards, procedures, and work instructions.

  • To conduct technical training as per department and Company needs and exchange experience with colleagues of the entire Group for new Design techniques.

  • To secure the steel works design, related to the assigned projects, on the basis given by the Civil Project Leader, and in agreement with other disciplines.

  • To secure the 3D model and dwg, extraction of steel works according to the structural calculation.

  • Coordinate Steel activities split in different engineering centers, checking the issued documents, in compliance with the budget and the schedule, while securing cost optimization.

  • Actively participate in planning and monitoring the steel works activities, from basic design, to fabrication, to eventually erection at site.

  • Prepare reports and Progress curves to be shared with PM, PM, DL, GL and HoDs.

  • To check and approve vendor’s document (erection and shop dwg. list of materials, 3D model etc.).

  • To aid the Civil Project Leader in the material requisition cycle (issue, bid technical evaluation, vendor qualification, supply follow up).

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

·       University Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent

Experience

·       Significant civil experience in industrial construction of Large/XL Gas plants.

·       Similar role covered at least in last three projects of comparable size.

·       10 - 15 years relevant field experience.

·       Experience working on Contractor side.

Skills and Abilities

·       Fluent English.

·       Excellent IT and analytical skills.

·       Excellent communications, team-oriented and interpersonal skills.

·       Attention to details.

·       Self-motivation and direction, with a strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
