Job summary/Role description

Tecnimont and Tecnimont Arabia Limited have been awarded two lump-sum turn-key EPC contracts related to a petrochemical expansion at the SATORP Refinery (a JV composed of Saudi Aramco and Total Energies), in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The overall value of the contracts is approximately USD 2 billion. The contracts relate to the execution of two packages of the complex, namely the “Derivatives Units” package - which includes a butadiene extraction unit, an olefin extraction unit, a methyl tert-butyl ether unit, a butadiene selective hydrogenation unit, a 2nd stage pygas hydrogenation unit and benzene & toluene extraction unit - and the “High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) & Logistic Area” package, which includes two polyethylene units and the relevant product logistic facilities.

The project’s scope of work entails complete engineering services, equipment and material supply, construction activities, pre-commissioning, and commissioning, and shall have a duration of approximately 4 years.

 

The Construction Mechanical/Piping Supervisor is responsible for the compliance with Development and HSE procedures as well as to provide onsite mechanical, piping, fabrication and installation expertise. He/she ensures the implementation of mechanical and piping works according to schedules.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensures that procedures and processes are understood and followed by the construction personnel.
  • Supervision of the coordination of all Mechanical Construction and piping activities.
  • Implements schedules, executes projects and ensures that schedules are adhered to.
  • Ensures compliance with quality standard in accordance with the project schedules.
  • To supervise, coordinate, monitor and inspect installation Contractor in all Mechanical and pipeline related works to ensure mechanical systems are installed, tested and commissioned according to the design specification, standards and quality objectives.
  • Ensuring that safe systems of work are effectively applied through instruction, supervision and good communications.
  • When required, plans and prepares to execute the requirements of inspection and test procedures.
  • Ensures that Subcontractor’s performances are carefully monitored in terms of schedule, quality and cost, and he/she will coordinate all necessary recovery actions whenever detect deviation from schedule or specifications under the guidance of Construction manager.
  • Provides on-site knowledge of project specific piping construction requirements.
  • Verifies arrival of procured equipment and engineering equipment.
  • Supervises the implementation of all the HSE procedures and standards for the areas or activities (subcontractors) of responsibilities.
  • He directly participates in the HSE activities at site as defined for his position in the Site HSE plan and related procedures;

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • A university degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical/Piping Engineering.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in construction/modernization of oil & gas /industrial sector/ EPC projects large refinery plants.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the specific discipline.
  • Experience working on Main Contractor side.
  • Previous approval from KSA clients will be considered an advantage for further evaluation.
  • Experience in spooling is highly recommended for this position.
