 Job summary/Role description

 TM and TM Arabia Limited have been awarded two lump-sum turn-key EPC contracts related to a petrochemical expansion at the SATORP Refinery (a JV composed of Saudi Aramco and Total Energies), in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 The overall value of the contracts is approximately USD 2 billion. The contracts relate to the execution of two packages of the complex, namely the “Derivatives Units” package - which includes a butadiene extraction unit, an olefin extraction unit, a methyl tert-butyl ether unit, a butadiene selective hydrogenation unit, a 2nd stage pygas hydrogenation unit and benzene & toluene extraction unit - and the “High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) & Logistic Area” package, which includes two polyethylene units and the relevant product logistic facilities.

 The project’s scope of work entails complete engineering services, equipment and material supply, construction activities, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 Materials Inspection:

  • Inspect structural steel shapes, plates, bolts, nuts, washers, fabricated steel structures…etc. for conformance with project requirements.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and preservation of all structural materials.

Installation Inspection:

  • Ensure support foundations release from Civil discipline prior to the installation of structures or equipment.
  • Inspect structural alignment prior to grouting.
  • Identify and support the correction of errors in structural alignment, excluding welding activities.
  • Inspect access structure installations for safety and compliance.
  • Perform site inspections for construction activities wo ensure following the approved procedures.
  • Verify compliance with relevant standards.


Pre-Commissioning and Testing:

  • Perform verification testing of bolt tightening procedures and final inspections.
  • Manage punch-list items for structural re-instatement and ensure all issues are resolved before project commissioning.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Knowledge & Qualifications

    • Experience with quality management frameworks, such as ISO 9001.
    • Knowledge of structural steel activities and procedures

 

Experience

    • Minimum of 8 years of overall inspection experience.
    • At least 5 years of specialty experience in structural steel inspection.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in oil & gas and petrochemical projects.
    • Previous Saudi Aramco experience and approvals are preferred.
    • Thorough understanding of structural steel inspection processes, standards, and codes (e.g., ASTM, AISC).
    • Familiarity with inspection of high-strength bolted connections and related pre-installation procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify non-conformities.
    • Excellent communication skills for reporting and coordinating with the project team.

 

Skills and Abilities

    •  Excellent IT and analytical skills.
    • Attention to detail, excellent communications skills.
    • Fluent English.
    • Arabic language will be an advantage.
    • Strong interpersonal, team-oriented skills, self-motivation, and direction, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
