Job summary/Role description

Expediting & Inspection Engineer – Mechanical, ensures, in agreement with the Expedition & Inspection Category Manager and in coordination with the Post Order Manager and through interaction with suppliers, the monitoring of material supplies from the point of view of technical compliance and progress, in accordance with the quality requirements and the times required by the projects and highlighting any deviations and non-compliance., reporting or intervening in accordance with business and project objectives.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

INSPECTION activities and responsibilities:

  • Review all applicable quality related documents of Vendors – QAP, ITPs, Procedures & MRB etc. in a timely manner.

  • Coordination with Inspection agency for various activities like arranging inspections on time, review CV of inspectors, review Inspection report and close open punch points, review and provide clearance for compliance. Check and Issue Inspection release note in project software.

  • Promotes a Quality culture on the project, ensuring implementation of best practices and continuous improvement of quality standards & system.

  • Proactively interacts with Project Management Team to ensure quality matters are effectively managed in accordance to project specification/standards and other requirements.

  • Carry out inspection at vendor works/site for various items as and when required as per the project.

  • Coordinate for Non-Compliance management activities and ensure closer of NC timely managing during execution of purchase order. Also coordinate with site for NC’s received from site for supplied material.

  • Ensure Project Quality KPIs performance and mitigation as required.

  • Perform Vendor qualification audits. Conduct vendor performance evaluation and provide feedback.

  • Verify packing as per COMPANY’s specifications.

  • Must be able to handle responsibilities as per project specific requirements.

EXPEDITING activities and responsibilities:

  • Coordination with Vendor for timely submission of project key documents and other documents.

  • Obtain L-I/L-II/L-III schedule from vendor and track activities (Engineering/ Sub-ordering/ Manufacturing/Dispatch).

  • Expedite delivery of equipment / project material on time.

  • Take prompt and appropriate action to address Area of concerns during execution of project and provide solutions to mitigate delay.

  • Handle Internal Co-ordination with all departments related to expediting

  • Desk & Field expediting visits.

  • Prepare & issue Expediting Reports in Material Management System, prepare detailed status reports in timely manner in excel/word

  • Must be able to handle responsibilities as per project specific requirements.

 

 

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Metallurgical engineering or equivalent  

Experience

  • Having minimum of 10 years’ experience in the field of Oil & Gas/Power/Process specifically in mechanical inspection and expediting (such as static, rotating, steel structure, bulk, valves, etc…);
  • Bachelor of mechanical or metallurgical engineering;
  • Knowledge in AWS d1.1, ASME II/V/VIII div.1 and 2/IX, ASME B31.3 and 31.1, SSPC, ISO, API598/6D, etc…

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, management skills.
  • Team-oriented skills, self-motivation, and direction, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
  • Experience in inspection and expediting activities of components such as vessels/columns, pumps, valves, pipe spools, raw material, steel structure, etc…;
  • ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT, and PT;
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS-CWI;
  • NACE Level II or CSWIP / BGAS Grade 2 is preferred;
  • Strong experience in welding, NDT, and coating / painting;
  • Strong supervisory, Inspection, coordination, and reporting skills
  • Candidate shall be fluent in English;
  • Candidate shall be Knowledgeable in material specifications for carbon steel, stainless steel, clad and alloy steel materials;
  • Shall have sound knowledge stage inspections, dimensional control inspection, weld visual inspection, NDT, Leak tests, FAT, Blasting and Painting inspections, etc…;
  • Experience in ADNOC projects is preferred;
  • Candidate shall have his source for visiting the various Vendor shops;
  • Candidate shall be ready to travel within UAE daily and in some cases abroad;
  • Candidate shall be ready to work overtime;
