Job summary/Role description

We are hiring an experienced Site Shipping Coordinator to lead shipping and customs operations for a high-profile, large-scale project. This critical role involves managing logistics for Oversized Heavy Lift (OSHL) items, including components exceeding 500 tons, and ensuring smooth coordination across all disciplines involved in final delivery and customs clearance.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate all shipping and customs activities at the SITE, including last-mile transportation of OSHL cargo.
  • Liaise with local freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
  • Oversee documentation and clearance processes for international and domestic shipments.
  • Manage road permit applications, civil works coordination, and customs procedures in collaboration with local authorities.
  • Maintain continuous communication with SITE teams (Construction, Material Receipt Control, Warehousing) and the Milano office (Logistics, Procurement, Post-Order).
  • Ensure logistics operations align with project schedules and safety standards.
  • Attend local meetings with authorities, preferably as local personnel, to support compliance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and report on logistics KPIs, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy and multitask across all logistics functions.

Required Experiences

  • Proven experience in shipping and customs coordination for major EPC projects.
  • Strong understanding of OSHL logistics and handling of cargo exceeding 500 tons.
  • Familiarity with local transport regulations, customs laws, and infrastructure coordination.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory due to the international nature of the project.
  • Kazakh language proficiency (preferably native) is a strong asset and aligns with local content requirements.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University Degree in international Customs and Logistics Management

Experience

  • At least 15 years of Relevant experience in construction of large Oil & Gas plants/ EPC projects.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working in Kazakhstan or similar regulatory environments.
  • Prior involvement in large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Willingness to travel locally and attend meetings with government and regulatory bodies.
