Job summary/Role description

The Operation Manager’s mission is to ensure a smooth transition from the EPC commissioning phase to the client’s commercial production phase. This involves taking responsibility once facilities reach the Ready to Start-Up stage, overseeing progressive transfer of care and custody from contractor to client, and facilitating plant operation handover after successful performance testing and provisional acceptance. The role supports knowledge transfer and operational readiness so the client can run the plant independently within commercial targets.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure a smooth handover between Commissioning Team and Operation Team by means of stabilization and consolidation of systems/ equipment/ units commissioned by the Commissioning Team.
  • Ensure and concur with Commissioning Manager, the fulfillment of Contractor contractual obligations up to hand over to Client.
  • Facilitate the takeover by Client Operation and Maintenance Team of project facilities involving Operation and Maintenance Client personnel in the project completion activities up to hand over including Vendor’s and Licensors’ activities at site until the required self-assurance is achieved by Client personnel.
  • Switching Project activities focus from objectives (Mechanical Completion, Ready for Commissioning, Ready For Start Up, Performance Testing, Provisional Acceptance) to manufacturing objectives as set forth in the Client Production and Operating Budgets.
  • Key Performance Indicators (On Stream Factors, Utilization Factors and Capacity Utilization Factors) and Benchmarking will be the parameters to assess operating performance in order to improve Plant Operation Reliability and Plant Availability.
  • Comply with Client requirements of achieving commercial production targets while safeguarding Contractors rights.
  • Supervise and monitor plant performance by comparing actual achievements with planned achievements.
  • Define the daily activities and develop the day by day planning following the priorities indicated by the commissioning manager.
  • Assign the tasks to the supervisors/assistants.
  • Ensure that operation activities in field are carried out according to stated procedures and agreed schedule.
  • Interface with maintenance team and direct the maintenance jobs according to the production priorities.
  • Ensure that operation activities in field are carried out according to quality standards and safety procedures, including adherence to work permit requirements.
  • Can be authorized person designated by the site manager to receive or issue a Permit To Work according to the project Permit To Work Procedure.

 

 

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent.

Experience

  • Significant experience in the industrial construction of large or xl gas plants.

  • Covered a similar role in at least 2-3 projects of comparable size.

  • A minimum of 18 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience working on the Contractor side.
