About the project / Job summary

The new Kallo PDH plant is being built on an existing Borealis site and was originally selected based on its excellent logistical position and experience in propylene production, but also to be able to capitalize on synergistic effects with the existing PDH unit.

PDH is a vital process step in the production of propylene from propane. Propylene is one of the most important building blocks for the entire chemical industry, and is the raw material used to produce polypropylene (PP).

The Commissioning Mechanical Supervisor (CMS) manages commissioning activities ensuring compliance with quality requirements, health, environmental, and safety regulations, and adherence to established procedures.


 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop detailed pre-commissioning procedures for Machinery & Packages, and create procedures for functional tests of machinery following the instructions of the Commissioning Machinery Superintendent.
  • Conduct field checks of the DAC and prepare relevant commissioning punch lists as per CME instructions. Expedite the closure of pending punch list items in accordance with Commissioning Superintendent (COT) priorities.
  • Monitor and ensure activities are carried out according to procedures and requirements.

Each Supervisor reports to the Construction Manager. He directs Subcontractor activities for his own discipline, ensuring that Plant Construction works are performed according to the erection schedules and Project documents, within the assigned cost budget, and according to Quality & Safety procedures, as well as according to the terms and conditions of the subcontract. One or more assistants may support him.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prior to the start of works, to check the Supplier’s material and technical documentation delivery schedule. Check that the same is in line with Construction schedules and contractual commitments.
  • Prior to the start of works, control and approve the Method Statements submitted by the Subcontractors, ensuring their correct application on the field.
  • They ensure the implementation of all the HSE procedures and standards for the areas or activities (subcontractors) of responsibilities.

Job summary/Role description

TM and TM Arabia Limited have been awarded two lump-sum turn-key EPC contracts related to a petrochemical expansion at the SATORP Refinery (a JV composed of Saudi Aramco and Total Energies), in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The overall value of the contracts is approximately USD 2 billion. The contracts relate to the execution of two packages of the complex, namely the “Derivatives Units” package - which includes a butadiene extraction unit, an olefin extraction unit, a methyl tert-butyl ether unit, a butadiene selective hydrogenation unit, a 2nd stage pygas hydrogenation unit and benzene & toluene extraction unit - and the “High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) & Logistic Area” package, which includes two polyethylene units and the relevant product logistic facilities.
